1/14/18 The Lords Prayer Pt. 2: The Bread Of Life

January 14th, 2018

This week we talked about how desperately our Spirit needs nutrition. How constantly we feed our bodies, yet how rarely we give ourselves the nourishment from heaven that Jesus talked about in John Ch. 4 Jesus said my nutrition comes from doing the will of the Father, Jesus said I am the bread of life, Jesus said man does not live on bread alone but on every Word that proceedith out of the Word of God. These are our sources of true nutrition, yet so often we distract ourselves with fleeting pleasures and fleeting promises that cannot satisfy, false forms of nutrition.

January 21st, 2018. 1 Corinthians Intro: Kingdom Culture: CONSUMERISM

January 21st, 2018 CONSUMERISM

Weeding out the Consumerism Culture in Us: Just like the church in Corinth, we consume the latest information, consume possessions and things, strive for status, and even bring a consumer mindset into our Christian lives. Our culture promulgates information into our hearts and minds, leading us towards fleeting promises and unfulfilling paths. Paul emphasizes the we have a new life in Christ Jesus. One that is centered in Christ and finds its value therein. Not in our status, not in our belongings, not in our achievements, but in Christ, our center.

January 28th, 2018. 1 Corinthians 1 Kingdom Culture: UNITY

January 28th, 2018 UNITY

God has called us to cast out our divisions, yet our culture trains us to be individualistic and carve our own path. Instead of facing division and fighting for unity we often take our negative opinions, gossip, slander, and division and spread them around like bad seeds. Instead of facing the division in our own hearts and fighting for unity, we allow the negative seeds in our hearts to grow up and divide us. in John 13:35 Jesus said the world will know that you are my disciples by this, IF YOU LOVE ONE ANOTHER. If we are not loving one another then we are no different than the world and our Christian witness is compromised. Above all else we need to stand up and fight for unity. To stand up and face our differences. As Christians we should never cover up bad seeds in our hearts, and never spread those bad seeds around like manure onto others. We shouldn’t ruthlessly spread information, we shouldn’t get upset when people try to correct us, and we should not gossip behind other peoples backs. Together we must stand firm in humility and love, trusting that as we lovingly exhort one another we will be sculpted in Unity.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

December 24th Evening Service Christmas Eve.

We had a wonderful group show up for our candlelight service on Christmas Eve, the church was packed to the brim and overflowing with people and praise. Each of the Christmas Hymns echoed through the room and up into the heavens as we all sang with joyous excitement. Towards the end of the service everyone in the room was given a candle (which represents Christ’s light, hope, and love, coming into our lives), we dimmed the lights so that the only source of light in the room was the one hundred small candles that we lifted above our heads as our soft singing and worship gently pierced through the dim, stillness of Christmas night.

Pastor Mike preached a gripping sermon as he outlined the fantastic depth of what it means for the one who is life itself to become flesh and dwell among us. Together we looked at the disciples personal testimony in 1 John 1 , Luke 2, The prophecies of Simeon and Anna, The shepherds and the angels, the physical and spiritual authority of Jesus, and the reason why it all matters to you and to me.

A Christmas Story at AFCPC

Dec 24th 2017 Morning Service.

Christmas Eve morning we had as more gentle service that touched our hearts in a slightly different way. Denise shared a very heart touching Christmas story that brought many to tears and reminded us all about the genuine and unparalleled love that marks the Christian life and the birth of Christ. The story was followed by a short teaching on five of the names that Jesus was given at his birth. We looked at the Greek and Hebrew meaning of these titles, and talked about the significance of the only one who could ever bear them; Jesus Christ, savior, Messiah, and Lord, God With Us!!
